What is there to do in and around Hutton-le-Hole? 
 
The world renown Ryedale Folk Museum is located in Hutton-le-Hole.  www.ryedalefolkmuseum.co.uk
 
The village of Hutton-le-Hole offers a local Inn, The Crown, a two minute walk away from Greengate.  It offers good food served either in the bar or the restaurannt.  It is children friendly and offers a warm welcome throughout the year.
 
Hutton-le-Hole has a number of tea shops, craft shops and the Beck which winds through the village, offering many picnic, sun bathing and 'watching the world go by' spots. There is a tennis court that can be hired, a petanque pitch and down the round a squash court.
 
There are fantastic opportunities for lovers of the great outdoors with walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding offerings all within very easy reach. Bikes can be hired in nearby villages and there are many mapped walking routes, many of which are in the cottage.
 
The local market towns of Kirkbymoorside, the local market town, is only 3 miles away.  Kirkbymoorside has a good range of shops and amenities including five pubs, a choice of restaurants, cafes, fish and chip shops, bakeries, a newsagent, pharmacy, supermarkets, hardware store and antique shops. Helmsley and Pickering are short drives away, each offering its own attractions, whether it be medieval castles, bustling markets, good restaurants and pubs or local shopping.
 
To the east of Kirkbymoorside is Pickering, which offers a swimming pool, cinema, trout fishery, a castle, antique shops and is the home of the famous North Yorkshire Moors Railway – a ‘must-do’ journey through breathtaking Yorkshire scenery on a steam train, stopping, amongst other places, at Goathland, home of Heartbeat.  www.nymr.co.uk
 
To the west is Helmsley, overlooked by a castle and with a classic medieval market square.
 
Ryedale offers colourful local markets, famous abbeys, castles, stately homes, steam trains, theme parks and some exceptional museums. Also, many fine old country pubs and inns serve tasty home-made puddings, classic Sunday roasts, fish and chips and a remarkable range of real ales.
 
The coast is on hand, Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend, Runswick Bay all within easy day outing distance and each providing their own dramatic scenery and attractions.
 
Also within a short drive are Castle Howard, Byland and Rievaulx Abbeys and Robin Hood’s Bay. York Minister, the Jorvik Viking Centre and the City Walls, York (one of England's most famous medieval cities) is just 45 minute drive away.
 
Flamingoland, one of the UK's premier theme parks and zoo, invested is on the outskirts of Pickering, again, only a short distance away. www.flamingoland.co.uk
